BFI Film Academy Short Course has its first intensive week This year's BFI Film Academy Edinburgh and Southeast Short Course has kicked off!Over the October school break, 22 young learners have joined us for an intensive week of practical workshops and masterclasses. Participants have been learning the fundamentals of filmmaking, everything from production calls to cinematography, engaged in an industry masterclass with sound specialist Anna Bertmark (Gods Own Country, You Were Never Really Here, Medusa Deluxe). Each learner was tasked with creating a pitch for a short film, and were able to vote on which scripts they would like to make. The course will continue with weekly sessions until the end of the year, were learners will develop their chosen scripts into short films. They will undertake each stage of production and will experience different roles, alongside further industry masterclasses and the study of the BFI/Screen Skills Preparing to Work in the Film Industry qualification. A screening of the films will be held in January. The BFI Film Academy Scotland Short Course Programme 2024-25 is delivered by a consortium of organisations working together to develop young people aged 16 to 19 across the Nation, with courses delivered in Edinburgh here at Screen Education Edinburgh, and at partner orgs in Ayrshire at Ayrshire Film Co, in the Scottish Highlands at Eden Court Highlands, in Glasgow at GMAC Film, and in Aberdeen at Station House Media Unit. Thank you to Drummond Community High School and The City of Edinburgh Council for providing our October break venue. Manage Cookie Preferences
